“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”

1 Corinthians 10:12

Have you ever seen a fellow believer fall into deep sin and thought to yourself, I would never do that?

Maybe a prominent Christian has made the news for embezzling funds or abandoning his or her wedding vows.

When you hear the news, you shake your head and say, “How could someone do such a thing?”

Today’s Scripture has good counsel for all of us when we imagine ourselves to be above certain sins: “If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”

In other words, don’t be proud or smug when others sin, because you are not as strong, courageous, and godly as you think you are.

Consider Noah, who stood firm in a land filled with sin—only to become drunk and disgraced in his own tent.

Your greatest temptation doesn’t come when you feel weak and vulnerable, but rather when you feel strong, devoted, and above the fray.

Father, I know I have done this. I have seen brothers and sisters stumble, shaken my head, and thought to myself, How could they?

But you know the truth, God. You know that sometimes I have avoided sin, not because I’m more devout, but because I lacked opportunity!

Father, I admit my weakness today. I want to be strong in you—not in myself!

Daily Manna “The Stalwart Cry”

Daily Manna/Devotional “The Stalwart Cry”
Always different!
December 6, 2021

Psalm 56:3-4 📖 There is a slogan that has worked its way into popular usage over the past few years: the stalwart cry, ´No Fear!´ Generally, this phrase is attached to some daring athletic attempt. But can the expression also find a deeper meaning related to our Christian life?

Clearly, it is impossible to live in this world without ever facing uncertainty, doubt, confusion, and even honest fear. Scripture does not dismiss these concerns. Instead, the Word is truthful about the adversity that we all face. The right response to these hardships is to admit our fears to the Lord and trust that He will work the situation out for His own glory and our good. (See Psalm 56:11.) Too many people try to excuse God from responsibility when they come up against an apparently immovable obstacle. What we often fail to realize is that God may desire to use that hardship to shape us into the person He wants us to be. You see, adversity is an opportunity for God to purify our faith. Because God alone is sovereign in the universe, He desires to be sovereign in our individual lives as well. If we place our faith in anything other than God, He is swift to remove those obstructions that hinder our walk with Him.

If you are going through adversity, pray for the discernment to ask yourself, Is this something that God may be allowing to occur in my life in order to bring me closer to Him? If so, trust Him to reorder your life so He may remain Lord of your faith.

Daily Manna “God´s Design for Church”

Daily Manna/Devotional “God´s Design for Church”
Always different!
December 5, 2021

Hebrews 10:23-25 📖 When you hear the word church, do you picture a little white building full of smiling people in fancy clothes? As lovely as that image may be, God´s design for church is unrelated to it. He created the church to be a unified fellowship of believers who encourage each other and carry out His ministry to the world.

The Bible clearly defines the following as ministries of the church: worshipping the living God, instructing and edifying believers, making disciples of all nations, and serving the needy. Unless the leadership is careful, however, these purposes can all too easily get out of balance, with the unfortunate result that the body ends up malnourished. For example, a church with too heavy an emphasis on praise could become introverted. Congregations that overemphasize teaching might lose their joy, and those that evangelize to the neglect of the other areas could miss out on great faith. Because of sin and human imperfection, we do not experience church as it was originally intended. Instead, there´s a tendency to overemphasize certain ministry areas. What´s more, divisive arguments— many of which concern minor issues, such as music preferences or clothing choices—too often destroy church unity. Greed, pride, selfishness, and gossip can also tear a congregation apart.

Since they´re composed of imperfect people, churches will be imperfect too, and expecting anything else will lead to disappointment. Nonetheless, we should strive for God´s original design, continually measuring ourselves against Scripture and correcting course to realign with His purpose.

DESTROYING THE POWERS OF COLLECTIVE CAPTIVITY …2

DESTROYING THE POWERS OF COLLECTIVE CAPTIVITY | Kindly be on your feet while you pray
Time to pray, 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM

The problem of collective captivity is a stubborn one. One must know
the kind of prayers to pray. When captivity comes upon a community,
group of people or family, everyone under the umbrella will be affected.

To be free from the results or the effects of collective captivity, you
must pray certain prayers that are centred on affecting the overall
umbrella under which all the victims are placed.

Family members,
inhabitants of the community and the entire citizenry of a nation will go
along the same pattern and suffer the same problems until the yoke of
collective captivity is broken.

These prayer points are targeted at setting you free from collective
bondage, removing your life from underneath the evil umbrella, as well
as erasing every evil writing affecting your life negatively. They will
enable you to rise above your roots.

Scripture: 2 Tim. 4:18

2 Tim. 4:18: And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and
will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever
and ever. Amen.

Colossians 1:18, Colossians 1:24 📖 Church buildings are plentiful in our country. Locating one may be easy, but wisely deciding which to join involves more thought. God´s Word gives us some specific instructions in this matter.

First, let´s explore the original biblical meaning of the word ´church.´ The term ecclesia meant a group of people who are called out of the world´s system by God´s grace for the purpose of assembling to worship and serve Christ. Ephesians 5:22-30 further specifies that believers are the body and Jesus is the head of such a fellowship. Under His leadership, we can enjoy the unity and purpose that He intended. God´s design for this sacred gathering involves worship, instruction, encouragement, evangelism, and ministry to those in need, both within the fellowship and outside its walls. A healthy, vibrant congregation is possible when members rely on the Holy Spirit´s guidance. The work of the church is to be done in His power, in humble and prayerful submission to the Lord. To help you determine whether a church is following the design laid out in Scripture, here are some important questions to ask: Do they believe God´s Word is infallible and inerrant? Is the church discipling her people? Does the fellowship have some kind of missionary or evangelistic program?

Joining a congregation is an important decision, as a fellowship of believers is one tool God uses to mature and encourage His children. Those three questions can be helpful in discerning God´s will. Listen for His Spirit to warn or direct as you prayerfully investigate your options.

Confessions: Genesis 2:10-19: And a river went out of Eden to water
the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole
land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good:
there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river
is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

And
the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward
the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. And the Lord
God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and
to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every
tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the Lord God said, It is
not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for
him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the
field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see
what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living
creature, that was the name thereof.

Deut. 32:30: How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten
thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had
shut them up?

Proverbs 31:10-11: Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far
above rubies. The heart if her husband doth safely trust in her, so that
he shall have no need of spoil.

Eccles. 4:9-12: Two are better than one; because they have a good
reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow:
but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to
help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can
one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand
him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Isaiah 62:4-6: Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy
land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah,
and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall
be married.

For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons
marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy
God rejoice over thee. I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O
Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that
make mention of the Lord, keep not silence.

Malachi 2:10-16: Have we not all one father? hath not one God created
us? why do we deal treacherously every man, against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in
Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the
Lord which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the
scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an
offering unto the Lord of hosts. And this have ye done again, covering
the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping, and with crying out,
insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it
with good will at your hand. Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord
hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against
whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the
wife of thy covenant. And did not hemake one? Yet had he the residues of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed.

Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously
against the wife of his youth. For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that
he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment,
saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal
not treacherously.

Galatians 2:14-15: But when I saw that they walked not uprightly
according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If
thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the
Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? We who
are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles.

Col. 2:14-15: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was
against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing
it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a
shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

2 Tim. 4:18: And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and
will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever
and ever. Amen.

Daily Manna/Devotional “Faith and Doubt”

Matthew 14:22-32 The Lord wants to do far more in believers´ lives and through their witness than most are willing to allow. We believe He can do great things, but the problem is that we are not sure He will act on our behalf. Consequently, we hesitate to trust Him fully for specific answers regarding our personal situations.

Vacillating between faith and doubt like a boat in a squall makes for a sick and tired Christian. If we desire to calm the sea of faith, we must first decide to act out of obedience rather than simply make choices according to feelings or sight. Peter walked on water because he chose to proceed by trust instead of by reason. As believers, we will not become stable in our faith until we recognize that believing God is a choice. The second action of a faithful believer is to focus attention on God. When we look at our circumstances, we are restricted to our own limited view of the situation. As long as Peter was staring at Jesus, his feet stayed on the water´s surface, but the moment he looked at the wind-whipped waves, he began to sink. Finally, we are to maintain our focus on the Lord by keeping our mind in the Word. We cannot trust our sight, reason, or knowledge to steer us through a storm of doubt. But we can truly depend upon Scripture.

Choose to believe that the Lord will work on your behalf. Then focus your attention on Him, and claim a promise from Scripture that applies to the situation. When those three actions regularly become a part of your life, you will stop swaying. The heavenly Father will honor your steadfast faith.

Psalm 126 📖 People love inspiring stories. Biographies of the down-and-out who make great use of a second chance tend to top best-seller lists. But few people have a life of such drama—most of us are quite ordinary. Sadly, some believers think that being a ´regular Joe´ makes their testimony unexciting and therefore less valuable. Nothing could be further from the truth. What the Lord has done for any of us is just as extraordinary as what He did by redeeming those with a past of more noticeable sin.

Kings 6:15-17 gives us a wonderful picture of what can happen when we remove our self-centered blinders and truly see God´s hand at work. Open your eyes. Like Elisha´s servant, you may be shocked to discover the help that God has already sent your way.

A personal testimony is a way of expressing what God has done and is doing in one´s life. It is a powerful tool for getting an unbeliever interested in spiritual matters. No matter how commonplace our words may sound compared to someone else´s, the Lord will see to it that they impact the hearers who need them. Let me give you an example. Suppose a 6-year-old girl named Tina receives salvation. When she is 18, she will be able to tell her friends of God´s greatness. She can explain that He makes the gospel clear to a child and yet reveals something new to her every day. When Tina is 80, she will have a lifetime of service opportunities to share. Her testimony may not be exciting according to the world´s criteria, but it is spiritual gold.

Daily Manna/Devotional “Gossip Dishonors God”
Always different!
November 30, 2021

A gossiping Christian dishonors God´s name—and his own. Instead of using words that disparage and injure, choose to speak well of everyone. In so doing, you will bring glory to the Lord.

2 Kings 6:15-17 📖 If someone were to ask whether you´re aware of God, you would no doubt exclaim, ´Of course I am! I go to church, read my Bible, and pray all the time. I´m quite aware of God.´ Now, let´s take it one crucial step further: Are you aware of God´s presence and activity in your daily life?

This second question makes it a bit more personal, doesn´t it? In my daily life? Right here, all the time? We would like to have that constant awareness of God´s presence, but it is difficult. When hardships and trials strike out of nowhere, we often feel bewildered and wonder why the Lord has left us alone. During times of difficulty, we might pray even harder and longer. We plead for help but see little result. We cry, ´Help me! Give me strength!´ Or perhaps, ´I believe this´ or ´I can do that.´ Do you notice the common factor there? The focus is all on me, me, me, I, I, I. Even during prayer, we may be aware only of ourselves, leaving the Lord out of the matter entirely. At that point, we may find we´re not really talking to the Father at all; we are talking to ourselves. Perhaps we are focusing on the problem and actually wishing for the ability to handle it on our own. We can, in effect, become completely blind to how God may be working.

whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the
wife of thy covenant.

2 Tim. 4:18: And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and
will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever
and ever. Amen.
