The spiritual battleground in my life isn’t over a torrid love affair or road trips to Las Vegas.
Some situations I’m my life prevents me from reaching for common temptations.
My fight of faith is played out on the field of my thoughts.
What my body can’t have, my mind will shift into overdrive to deliver.
But daydreams and fantasies only frustrate, bringing restlessness and dissatisfaction with God’s lordship in my life.
Theologian and pastor John Piper says the way you fight fire is with fire.
The fire of enticing thoughts must be fought with the fire of the pleasures God offers.
Our battle involves more than rejecting evil; it means pursuing God with everything.
When faith in Christ has the upper hand in our hearts, we are utterly satisfied with him. He’s enough. He’s sufficient.
You once said, Lord Jesus, that if I drink the water you give, I will never thirst.
And I would echo the woman you met at the well, “Give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty.”
I kneel at your spring of cold, clear water—the water of Life—and drink my fill.
