Daily Devotional “Stand Firm in Truth”
January 25, 2022
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”
When you don’t walk, your shoes never wear out. My shoes can last me ten years or more and still look brand-new.
The soles that have never touched dirt, gravel, pavement, or even carpet stay pristine. But I did have some sandals that got mud-stained in a monsoon in my Country back in the 1980s—and I treasure those stains.
They remind me of the people who came to Christ that very night, in the storm, as we huddled together in a shelter.
It was good to get my feet dirty bringing Good News to people who need Jesus! The truth is, even though my shoes may not get a lot of mileage, my legs logs countless miles.
Traveling isn’t easy for me, but the Lord has sent me to visit more than fifty places with the gospel of peace.
Whatever inconvenience, difficulty, hardship, or physical and emotional wear-and-tear we experience to bring the story of Jesus to others is worth it a thousand times over.
Lord Jesus, I would love the privilege to speak for you today. I don’t know how it will happen, where I will be, or whom I might encounter, but when the opportune moment comes, let me open my mouth and say a word or two that turns the conversation toward you.
